Dr. David Whitaker, Executive Director
Dave grew up in a pastor's home and has served in ministry since 1981. After undergrad and seminary (Bob Jones University), he returned to pastor in his home church, First Baptist Church of San Ramon, CA, where his dad, Dr. Bill Whitaker, was the first pastor. In 1991, he moved to Phoenix, AZ, as Senior Pastor of Heart to Heart Bible Church. During 13 years of ministry in North Phoenix, he also received his Doctor of Ministry (Northland International University) and merged the church with a sister church, becoming Moon Valley Bible Church.
Dave's burden to return to the Bay Area lead him in 2004 to become the lead pastor of Morgan Hill Bible Church. Dave serves as a police chaplain in Morgan Hill and on the Board of Trustees of Western Seminary.
Lanette is Dave's wife of more than 35 years and partner in ministry. Lanette (who grew up in a bilingual ministry and pastor-missionary home in Phoenix), is a gifted speaker and ministry leader at MHBC. Dave and Lanette have two great kids: Jon (married to Carrie), who is an interior architect and designer practicing in Brooklyn, NY and Charleston, SC and Kaylan, a graphic designer working in New York. Dave loves hanging out with his wife and kids, golf, reading, spending time with friends and playing with his Apple gadgets. Dave and Lanette have a special heart for those who serve and lead in ministry and their families.
Steve Boersma, PH.d., Cfo
Steve Boersma was born and raised in Southern California. He came to Northern California to attend college at San Jose State University where he earned a B.S. in Business. Steve also earned an M.A. in Church Administration from Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon and a Ph.D. in Business Management from Oregon State University.
Steve has been a consultant with Seeba & Associates for nineteen years. Steve is an expert in the areas of nonprofit tax & compliance; financial & operational systems; resource development; and clergy law and tax. Steve also brings a wealth of technical expertise to NextGen in the areas of board governance, business and operational systems, accounting and payroll reporting, and executive coaching. In addition to his experience with Seeba, Steve's past experience includes; manager of a Bay Area tech company, instructor at Oregon State , College of Business and Executive Pastor of a large church in Los Gatos.
Steve is married to Pamela Sue, his wife of 40 years. They have two wonderful sons; Jacobus, 37 and Micah, 36. In his free time Steve enjoys long distance cycling and kayaking.
Josh Wroten, Director of Church Planting
Josh is the Lead pastor at Morning Star Church in Newark. In 2002 after graduating from college, Josh and his wife, Cecil, returned to the Bay Area to plant Morning Star Church . God has graciously allowed Morning Star to become rich in ethnic diversity and become a place of true spiritual transformation. They have been blessed with two children, Alanna Joy and Ethan Luke. Josh has a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Seminary. He is responsible for planning NextGen events, organizing church assessments and directing church planting.
Josh Lane, Director of Leadership Education
Josh Lane is the lead pastor of Northside Church in Sacramento. After working for churches in Atwater and Santa Rosa, he returned home to Sacramento where he was born and raised. Josh has been the pastor at Northside Church for over 10 years and has a great love for the diverse community in which he ministers. Josh received his Masters of Divinity from Western Seminary. He oversees the Ministry and Leadership Certificate (MLC) program at NextGen Churches.
David Bennett, Director of Finance & Development
David Bennett grew up in Southeastern Ohio where he met his bride, Karen. Dave and Karen currently live in Roseville, California. They have two sons, Joel (22) and Jay (20). Dave graduated from Cedarville University with a B.A. in English and Bible. He graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Theology degree and an M.A. in Counseling from Ashland University. Dave has pastored in Cleveland, Ohio and served as a Financial Consultant at a major brokerage firm where he and his partner managed over $380 million in customers assets. Dave currently serves by helping individuals and non-profits make wise decisions about their resources so they can accomplish their goals. He does this through developing written step-by-step action plans resulting in increased giving for their regular operating capital projects and for long term resourcing through individual's estates. This has resulted in over $80 million raised for buildings, funding staff, debt reduction, raising support for new churches, scholarships, missions projects and other ministry expansion initiatives.
Victor Connor, Silver Spur Executive Director
On November 2, Vic Conner joined the Silver Spur Christian Camp & Retreat Center team as its new Executive Director. Vic's 17 years of camp experience includes two years as information Services Director at Forest Home Christian Conference Center, five years as Conference Services Director at Point Loma Nazarene University and ten years as Executive Director of Tonto Rim Christian Camp in Arizona. While at Tonto Rim, Vic also served as Arizona Section President for the Christian Camp and Conference Association. Vic has a B.A. in Social Science from Rockmont College and a M.A. in Christian Education from Denver Seminary. Vic and his wife Kathy have two grown children and two granddaughters.
Wendy Stroh, Accounting Manager
Wendy was hired as our Accounting Manager in 2014. She holds a B.S. degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Advanced Accounting, both from Santa Clara University. She is grateful for the opportunity to use her education and work experience to live out 1 Corinthians 10:31, "Whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God." Wendy grew up in San Jose but has lived in Gilroy since 1993. She has two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Michelle, whom she adores.
Darlene Giles, Administrative Assistant
Darlene was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She met her handsome husband, Tom while he was attending graduate school in Atlanta. A year and a half later they were married and living in Cupertino, California, where she worked as a software engineer for Hewlett Packard. After a visit from a local pastor who presented the gospel, Darlene and Tom both accepted Christ together in 1986 and shortly after moved to Morgan Hill. They quickly got plugged into Morgan Hill Bible Church and began to grow in their relationship with Christ. Darlene loves serving as part of the Women's ministry team at Morgan Hill Bible Church and seeing women grow in their relationship with Christ. In 2012 Darlene joined the NextGen team as the Administrative Assistant after 23 years of being a stay-at-home mom. Darlene and Tom have been married for over 30 years and have a daughter, Jennifer 27 (married to Ryan) and Timothy, 24. Darlene loves spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys entertaining, cooking, and playing games.
Rachel Hinman, Social Media & Celebrations Manager
Rachel was raised in a Christian family in the countryside of Ohio. She encountered Jesus on a personal level when she was a teenager and committed her heart to Him. She attended college at Oral Roberts University, majoring in Communications and minoring in Church Ministries. She met her husband, Ricky, while attending college and they married in 2013. They served in youth ministry together in Tulsa, OK, for 3.5 years. They have a beautiful and spunky daughter now reside in California and call Morgan Hill Bible Church their home church. Rachel enjoys hiking, photography, learning to surf and spending time with family. Rachel believes that everyone has a significant story, and each story plays a part in the Kingdom of God. She has a passion for people as well as seeing the Bay Area culture tip toward the heart of Jesus.
